2- days post~

As usual, our Thursday's dinner will be out of campus because we did not have class on Friday :)
This week, we had decided to go to Taipo Market to eat.. recommended by taxi driver..HaHa.. But we were not sure where to eat in Taipo Market.. and what to eat.. So, a group of us took the KCR there and went to ask a security guard where to eat.. There were me, Thunder, Jiaxin, Hui May, Yu Xin, Starla, Meng, Jimmy and Kee Hong.. We ate at a food court-like place.. but it's air conditioned.. ordered some food and they were all not bad at all!

Only have these two pix for the entire trip cause we were too busy eating.. HaHa! After dinner, we went to walk around Taipo Market area and found some super cheap egg tarts! 4 egg tarts for HKD5! (SGD1!!) and they are actually quite yummy! (^_^)v
This area has a lot of eating places.. dim sum.. desserts.. etc.
20/07/07 (Friday)
Put aside the student mask and put on the tourist's! Theme of the day was "Sight-seeing @ HK"..
4 of us set off from i-house in the morning - Me, HY, Sze Huey and Starla
1. Wong Tai Sin Temple

After taking many many photos inside the temple (as usual~) and prayed, we went for lunch... at the plaza next to the temple.. Wanted to eat in Cafe de Coral but something happened.. think we stepped on somebody's vomit on the floor! Argh...
So, we ate at KFC instead.. Why KFC? Cause they have quite a different menu from ours.. they have Portuegese egg tarts! and rice! and you can buy just one piece chicken.. they have criss cross fries too... their fried chicken was Ok.. not as good as Msia's but better than Sg's! HaHa :)

After lunch, Starla left us to get her stuff done~ the 3 of us embarked on our half day HK island tour! Passed by Mongkok station...

And changed to another MTR line heading to Central! (i like red walls! nice)

Sze Huey was our tour guide of the day! :)

Saw this cute cafe along the way... Ladder Street really has a lot a lot a lot of staircase!! up and up we climbed to reach our destination...
2. Man Mo Temple! one of the top 10 places to visit in HK (from the small handbook Suwan lend us..HeHe)
Specialty of this temple? There are 2 deities in this temple. One represents the Man, which means erm.. Culture? Studies? HaAH.. and the other, Mo is represented by God of War.. Another special attraction of this temple is the many many spiral incense hung from the ceiling.. this is the temple you usually see in movies when there's this spiral incense ..

3. Hollywood Road (Antique St)...

Rows of shops selling antiques.. we didn't go into any of them.. but from the window displays you can see many antiques.. some are really quite exquisite...

4. Bonham Strand West

Rows of shops selling abalone, dried oyster etc.. This is where the drama 溏心風暴 was based on... We even found the public toilet where Moses Chan got dumped in :P
a nice park along the Bonham Strand.. inside the park, there are a lot herbs planted.. there are even sign board for each plant... nice! :)

5. Western Market...

At a corner of Sheung Wan, where the buildings look like old western buildings.. inside the building, there are many shops.. many of them sells textiles..

A wall outside the main building...

From Sheung Wan, we took the Tram to Central~

in the tram! this photo looks funny because the trams are very close to each other.. so people in the tram beside ours were staring at 3 of us taking photos non-stop.. aiks!

5. Li Yuen Street East...

This street has many small stalls and shops selling clothes, bags, shoes etc. Can get very cheap bargain here.. I bought a bag here.. came here again on the last week before i left HK and got a cute T shirt for HKD10! (SGD2!!)- washed it and still in good condition..haha :)

6. South of Hollywood Road- SoHo

We took the world longest escalator (as said by the Hong Kong-er) up the hill... along the way, you can see shops.. many art galleries and antique shops.. and restaurants, cafes etc.
7. The Famous "governor's egg tart"!

How these egg tarts get their nickname? It is said that the last governor of HK loved the egg tarts from this shop so much, he kept coming back for more even after the handover of HK back to China.. On the glass door of the shop, you can see newspaper articles of the last HK governor with the owner of this shop.. What more can we say but Delicious!! :)

8. In search of the Best Cha Chan Teng in HK! (as heard from others..)

Me in the Cha Chan Teng.. but the WRONG one! HaHa! We found the place where the best is supposed to be.. but at the particular location, there are 3 cha chan teng! and we picked the one which is beside the famous one! but this was not bad too.. :) HaHA

Later, we found out from a tour guide that the famous one is very expensive and the food is not that good after all..

9. Dinner at Honolulu (@ Wan Chai?)

erm.. something sauce noodle.. HaHa.. nice! :)

10. Golden Bauhinia Square

This was the place we missed out on our 1st cultural tour planned by CUHK due to the massive traffic jam.. So, we came by ourselves to see the national flower of HK-the Bauhinia...

11. Outside the HK Convention and Exhibition Center~

nice night view!! :) a great end to a GREAT day!!

packed but fulfilling tour! went back to Kowloon by the Star Ferry~
