Hectic?

The timetable for this semester is rather weird... I do not have as many hours of lectures but I have 3 labs per week! That's a total of 9 hours in lab... :(
My classes all end at 6pm from Mon-Fri... by the time I'm back in my room, it's near 6.30pm... after some slacking or maybe cook dinner and tidy up the room, it's time for my drama at 7pm (til 8pm)... sometimes followed by some variety show or my HK drama on Crunchyroll ... by 9pm, I would usually have decided to stop watching tv and start studying.. but it's already such a long day.. so tired.... physically and mentally.. As a result, I had not been able to study seriously at all since the semester started! Or is it that my brain had not adjusted back to study mood after 1 whole month of relaxing? Sigh.. Test on Friday and I have full day tomorrow.. Still can't study..
Anywayz, just received some pictures from my sis... from the time when she and friends came to visit me in Sg...

very dark picture.. cause the sun was shining from our back... not a good pic but then it's me and my sis... hahamy sis took many pictures of us crossing the hanging bridge.. and she said her photo-taking skill is very good o_O ...

me, sis and friend on TV... in Toys "R" Us Vivo City.. trying to get a good view.. haha .. There are more pictures but *ahem* sis said have to edit the pictures before i can upload.. and since I'm lazy, I shall not post them up...

Today, CM told our Japanese classmate that we will be going to Japan to visit him...

He asked when?

CM: in 4 years time! :D

He -___-""

haha.. yeapz, we want to go to Hokkaido in 4 years' time! to eat sashimi.. :)

4 of us in Secret Recipe.. I, especially like the red sofa in Secret Recipe, so i asked Ky to help CM and I take a pic... :)

Over the weekend, I received an email about a charity that needs volunteers... It's the Ren Ci Charity Show which is an annual event in Sg to raise funds ( i think.. not too sure about the frequency)... but it will be shown on TV and involves artistes from overseas and also local artistes... It seemed like an interesting event to be participating as volunteers.. decided to sign up with my friends :) we can move things, clean up or run errands for the event.. plus we might get to meet artistes.. (^_^)v ...
I passed the booth today and asked the person-in-charge what will the volunteers be doing.. His answer was "Dance! "

o_O

I guess they want to stage a mass dance performance under the banner of Faculty of Science NUS to raise funds... and volunteers have to go for practices twice a week for about 1 month from the event itself (18th March 2007).. -__-
still seems quite interesting if my friends and I can actually dance.. but my friends dislike dancing.. hmm..
So, me wanting to do charity this time did not really work out..

Maybe for other events :)

The five of us without cc, the cameraman... the food was alright although the seafood was not very fresh...

Below are 2 of the continuation of the previous post about my friends' egg creations...

Pig-faced Fried Egg... -__-

Spring Onion Fried Egg...

All 6 of us cramped into the last row of seats on the bus which usually and supposingly accomodates 5 person only... and we are not that small sized, so it's kinda cramped...haha.. :)

sitting outside Esplanade with the city view in the background.. the brightest building at the back is Fullerton Hotel... JE was busy taking pictures and trying different modes of his camera...

We just sat there eating chocolates Suwan brought back from Canada! It's in the shape of maple leaf! :)
Didn't get a good photo of all 6 of us... the only one was blur... so here are the 2 sides of the table that night.. :)

I am very angry!

I smell like I had been dipped into oil, now... those oil used to fry food... Why? Because I just went to eat in the air cond canteen in my hostel...
Tonight was supposed to be my residence's welcome session.. The session were to start at 7pm and end at 9pm as it was stated on the promotional posters... I was very hungry after my class at 6pm... But i decided to wait for the welcome session to eat... I waited... and waited... and waited.... ate 1 biscuit... waited.. continued waiting..eat another biscuit... started to have headache... waited.... met my friend... walked around.. waited... nearly fainted and finally decided to eat in the canteen.. I gave up at 8.30pm!!! no sign of starting of the welcome session... NOTHING!!! what happened to starting on time? what's the point of stating 7pm on the posters if you don't mean it?
After I bought my food in the canteen, I got a call from my friend that the session had started... AFTER i BOUGHT my food... AFTER WAITING for SO LONG!!
And this event is organised by Resident Assistants who get free accomodation in the hostel and they did such a LOUSY job in welcoming the other residents... what were in the head of the administration when they hire these IRRESPONSIBLE, LOUSY, SLACK Resident Assistants? are the management happy to be throwing their money away? or the management's real intention is to drive their residents away? What happened to Home away from Home feeling of a residence?
I used to stay in PGP Residence 4 in my year 1... R4 was the best residence at that time.. the RAs were all very hardworking, enthusiastic and very responsible!!

Now? useless RAs...

Now, I'm feeling so angry I can't do anything! and i have tons of things to do! shit!

Unscrupulous

Let's talk about today... My mood was slightly affected by 2 person today... one was irritating, the other was unscrupulous... not getting into details but I was really shocked at what the latter did... really unbelievable.... Maybe not so unbelievable but it's something that I will never do... Firstly, it affected friends...even if we weren't the person's friend, we are still acquaintances and we see each other almost everyday... for at least 1.5 more years! There was a confrontation(on MSN, not one-to-one) but I may choose to back down if that person refuses to budge...

Had an O.K. project meeting in the afternoon.. I woke up at 7.30am to read the article! o_O... fell asleep after a while and woke up just in time for my lecture at 10am... -__-

Chinese tutorials are like usual.. just that I was sitting so near the tutor's table that I couldn't zzz for a while...

Finished reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince which i started in the holidays... still feel sad that Dumbledore died although this is not my first time reading it... sigh.. I know how it feels to be at a funeral of someone so close to you.. You just get this really numb feeling.. I remembered I was so tired and numb that I fell asleep everywhere... with so many people in the house...

Anyway, on a happier note, my Pharmaceutical Analysis II lecturer, Dr. Bong Yong Koy appeared on TV today as a pharmacist to answer questions about taking paracetamol... It was a Chinese program called "Fact or Fiction"... It was filmed in the Dispensing lab.. so our lab and Dr. Bong got like about 5+ minutes of FAME!! :)

the department sent emails to all Pharmacy Student about the appearance on TV..haha.. cute :)

And since I like to see pictures on people's blog, I also like to see pictures on my own blog.. Don't have any new pictures of me, us or here.. so here's a pic of 飞轮海 also known as Fahrenheit... they are coming to Singapore to promote their album! I kinda want to go and see them but I'm like quite over the age to go idol hunting anymore right? and my friends gave me a o_O look... they do look quite girlish in this photo..hahahha.. :)

-The End-

p.s: just got news that the aforementioned person agreed to back down! yeah! (^_^)v

I should blog more :)

I read blogs everyday... or rather, i look at blogs everyday.. cause i prefer blogs with a lot of pictures than a lot words.. haha... unless it's funny...or dramatic..
these are blogs i check almost everyday:

  1. Kenny Sia- always funny or good to read...
  2. XiaXue- funny and dramatic with fun pictures
  3. Cheesie- pretty girl with nice pictures
  4. Smashin' Popstar- really good pictures.. and updated every single day!
  5. Vivian-pretty and very rich girl
  6. Vincent- good read
  7. Dawn Yang- very pretty globe-trotting girl
  8. and of course my sister's and my friends'

Not many ppl update their blogs daily... it's understandable but since i check on blogs everyday, i get bored sometimes.. seeing the same not updated page loading day by day...

I had not updated since 15th Jan 2007... not that nothing interesting had happened... not that too many things happening that I didn't have time to blog...

What's the purpose of this blog?

Recently, a friend was asked whether she started her blog as she had mentioned it before.. her reply was that she only posted pictures as she was not ready to open up and actually write in her blog... She didn't want to write about her daily life which she thinks is boring and she's not ready to blog her opinions on things yet... which hit me a little..cause my blog is basically about my BORING daily life... I even did the "this morning i woke up at xx am, brush my teeth, had breakfast of coffee and bread.. yeah! so yummy..then i went to school.. attended boring lectures, fell asleep... went for lunch..the Q was long... zzz.................................. and i went to sleep at 9pm.." thingy... OMG!! really very boring ler.. Then it dawned on me that the reason i started blogging was to keep track of the things I had done while in NUS... while in this home-away-from-home university... so that, when I'm older, i can look back at all the silly things that I had done and said along the way.. and laugh at myself.. even looking back at entries blogged about 2 years ago could make me laugh at my own silliness or reminds me of some memories back then... it's nice, really.. :)

So, back to my L.I.F.E.....

Basically, i had been watching a lot of drama... Finished "Dicey Business" starring Bobby Au Yeong etc. ... 35 episodes but good one! even learned how to play Poker from that show.. and had our own casino-styled Poker card playing at Gladys' room last Friday nite... it was great fun!! in the end, i owe the "loan shark" $200,000! haha.. KY was the winner!

After "Dicey Business", I continued with one of the latest dramas in HongKong, "The Brink of Law" starring Steven Ma, Ron Ng etc. ... since it's still showing in HK, I have to wait for it to show on HK TV before I get to see it.. in between waiting, I decided to watch the Japanese drama "One Litre of Tears".. my friend recommended it to me before but the version she had was Chinese subtitled... so i had to wait til i get this English subbed version before I could watch... it was a nice show with a very cute girl as the lead character.. but it's also a sad show.. so one night, I decided that the show is too sad to watch at night, and switched to watch "Hana Yori Dango", the jdodrama based on the same manga that the popular Taiwanese drama, "Meteor Garden" was based on.. 9 episodes only but i enjoyed it!! My favourite character is Hanazawa Rui!! :)

I'm also watching the Taiwanese drama, Hua Yang Shao Nian Shao Nv which only shows once a week in Taiwan now.. so i can only watch 1 episode per week... zzzz...

Besides this crazy drama-watching, I'm in 3rd week of the new semester.. lab starts in full force this week.. 3 labs but all group reports... zzzz... tutorials started and starting soon... tests coming next week... projects headache...

taking Chinese 2 as the non-core module this sem... it is still manageable now..with very similar format of teaching as Chinese 1... I heard Chinese 3 is difficult.. May want to take it next academic year... to make myself stronger in Chinese... or maybe take German 2? too early to decide though.. :)

Last Saturday was a real busy day... went for the Young Alumni Sharing Session in the morning, left halfway to meet my sis and friends who came from UTM... had lunch in Vivo City and brought them to Sentosa! o_O had fun taking a lot of pix on the hanging bridge connected to the "Southernmost point of the Asia continent"... back to VivoCity for some snack before sending them off... and I went to do some shopping on my own... bought a T shirt for my mom :) next stop was Steamboat BBQ at Marina Bay with the old gang... it has been long since the 6 of us gathered!! laughed so much... we even went to the arcade nearby after dinner...didn't play anything and decided to proceed on to Karaoke... but it was a Saturday night after all and the charge for singing K per person was $28!! so expensive!! even though the manager gave us an offer, it was still ridiculously expensive..so we proceeded to Esplanade instead... I was too tired to do anything, so I just sat there while some were busy testing their cameras..and some were singing.. -___- We missed the last bus going back..took cab and ended my long tiring day... no pix ar cause all in ppl's camera...

only have some food pix.. this is a triple layer fried egg.. done by Master Chef Yong CC... it consisted of 1 base layer of egg, with a layer of leafy vege and topped up with another layer of egg, fried together and decorated with vegetable stalk and mushrooms?

when opened up, the triple layer egg resembled a fish!! it was edible i guess.. i didn't taste it though... we had too many versions of fried eggs that night.. another worth mentioned version was also Master Chef Yong's pig fried egg to welcome the new Pig Year...

Now, i'm struggling with my readings for project discussion tomorrow... Proteomics and Genomics: Developing new innovative therapeutics approach through expertise in biology.... so difficult.. the readings contain so many unknown terms.... o_O

Am happy though... finally got the $200 refund from my hostel!! yeah!! going to start giving tuition next month to a Primary 1 boy.. why Primary 1 when I can teach higher level and get more pay? Cause this is my first time teaching, and there is this opportunity, so might as well gain some experience... :)

still updating my new blog template... don't particularly like the dull brown background but the header is cute! :)

a sad day

the thought of never going to see a person ever again is very scary and sad...
not being able to feel what it's like to see them again... to be in their presence....
someone so closed to you but yet so far now....
all we are left with are memories of them....

such a sad day....

Random thoughts of the New Year :)

When you have nothing much to do, you tend to think a lot.. and that's what I had been doing for the past few weeks...
But thoughts come and go...

And before I forget, I just remembered that my blog is linked to my Multiply page... and everytime I update my blog, the one in Multiply will be updated too and to those who subscribed to updates from Multiply, they will be reminded -__- .... which is not something I want... (sorry to those who receive irritating "What you've missed" Multiply emails whenever I update.. I do not know how to remove the link to my blog wor.. *shy*)
Although I know by posting online, it will inevitably be read but as time goes by, people tend to forget about things... and forget about wanting to read my posts :)
But Multiply is reminding them! -__-

Why would I want people to forget about checking on my updates? Wouldn't I want my friends to kept up to date about me? Especially friends who are far away...
No reason I guess... It is just that I still get uncomfortable when friends talk about what I wrote...
I used to write before there was even blogs... I wrote when I couldnt find anyone to talk about my problems.. This happened quite frequently during my A-levels days when I would write and rip of that page to store it somewhere private or throw it away.. with that, my anger or whatever problems I had would disappear from my mind... :)
This cannot be done in this blog especially when the address is my name.. haha... I changed the address once... But I did not want to lose the address with my name on it.. I guess it holds certain meaning to have an address with my name..

which leads me to the next thought...

and this is how my brain had been working the past few weeks! o_O

Besides thinking a lot, I finished reading my Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire again.. for the 3rd or 4th time.. haha.. because I have no other books.. other than the Shin Chan comic which I had read so many times I couldnt do it another time.. and I'm now halfway through Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince for the 2nd time (only realised its existence in my house after looking around for 3 weeks.. -__-) But then I realised this book is sad... everything is so gloomy, nothing to look forward to.. even happiness is surrounded by fear... so unlike the 4th book when everything is still fine... sigh.. which is why I finished the 4th book in 3 days and the 6th book is still sitting there after 3 days..

I bought a magazine today... and on the last page is a list of "simple and extremely doable" New Year Resolutions... and since I have told myself I want to have New Year Resolutions this year, I will copy some from the mag...(those which are applicable of course)

1. Get fit! - my friend and I made a promise to jog every Saturday before we started our 1st term last year.. well, we didn't even jog once! haha.. but another friend and I jogged ONCE from our hostel to the school track and jogged on the track before returning...
My resolution is to exercise at least twice a week! Now that my gym partner is back from exchange program, I will remind her to drag me along whenever she goes to the gym.. She has determination that I don't.. So, it is always good to have positive friends :)

4. Respect others and learn to be punctual. - I hate people who are not punctual.. But I myself had not been the most punctual person.. Especially when I tell myself that my friends are always late anyway... Some bad occasions happened last year just because I was late and I took for granted that people would wait for me... Friends wait, family waits.. but strangers don't...
My second resolution is to be punctual... (Before that, I think I really should get a watch first! haha)

7. Watch your diet. Learn to eat right. - I think learn to eat at the RIGHT TIME would be a more relevant resolution... and say NO to instant noodle.. I hate the feeling of indigestion after eating instant noodle.. but i like that it's cheap! it's easy to prepare! it's fast! and it smells and taste nice.. :(
3rd resolution: Eat more fruits and NO instant noodle... ( I had not eaten a single pack of instant noodle for a few years even when I was away from home... until I came to torturous NUS... >_< )

8. Read more. Switch off the idiot box and get "lost" in a good book. - I forgot all about TV during my days in RI boarding school.. but in NUS, I got addicted to YouTube! Not as bad as my friends who suffer from anxiety whenever YouTube is closed for maintenance.. haha... I had not read more than one/ two books in a year for the past few years.. I still like books.. and magazines.. more than those online version..
So, my 4th resolution is to read more books besides all those related to my studies... For a more concrete plan, I shall read two books before each semester ends.. which means I would have read FOUR books in a year! yeah!! :)

9. Don't sweat the small stuff. If your grades weren't good last year, just make sure you do better this year- at the end of our mini-holiday last Dec, in a bookshop in Queensbay Penang, my friend flipped a horoscope book and told us about our fate this year.. She said my studies would be the same as last year.. which means my result will drop in the 2nd sem? and go back up to the same C.A.P at the end of the year? then i would be stuck there til I graduate! o_O
My 5th resolution is to maintain or improve my C.A.P in both semesters this year. No drop or a little increase will do :)

10. Just say no. No to drugs. No to alcohol. No to ciggies.- I can't say no to drugs! haha.. I study them everyday!! I see them everywhere.. in the lecture halls, in the labs, in the libraries, even on my study table.. and in my laptop!! NOOOO o_O... haha.. I don't take drugs, seriously... No to alcohol! I had been saying no to alcohol to my friends but they wouldn't believe me.. I don't drink a lot... My eyes don't light up when I see alcohol k..haha.. I start to dislike the bitter taste of alcohol.. Why drink alcohol when you have coffee :) haha... (which reminds me I should drink less coffee too) No to ciggies... I had seen enough dead black lungs to encourage anyone to stop smoking.. and i hate the smoke!
My 6th resolution is to keep away from alcohol... Which means no Bash because Bash ticket includes one free drink.. I can order soft drink but that will be stupid right? haha.. say No to alcohol!

11. Enjoy life more. - Last year had been enjoyable. This year should be even more enjoyable! Let's have BBQ! Let's go cycling at ECP... Let's have fun :)
My 7th resolution is to enjoy life more, especially when life is hard and stressful.

12. Learn to save! I don't succumb to the word S-A-L-E... But I succumb to good food.. I wanted to save some amount of money but my scholarship gave me such tiny amount of money I ended the year with debts every where! Not the loan shark kind of debt, luckily... But I owe some friends who were willing to spare me some money or to pay for things for me first.. sigh.. Thanks everyone :)
My 8th resolution is to work out how much I can spend in a month and withdraw sufficient money to last me... I shall not always borrow lunch money from my friends just because I forgot to withdraw money from the ATM.. This cannot become a habit!
I also want to earn some extra cash.. Do more surveys? :(

No 13 in the list ask me not to take myself too seriously... erm.. I think I should take myself and everything else more seriously now that I'm going to be 23 in 7 months!! o_O

14. Treat yourself to a mini vacation with friends!- Vacation, I like! I had a few trips with the Harmonica Orchestra (HO) gang which I really enjoyed.. Dec 2005, we went to Genting and KL... early 2006, we had many outings and cycling trips (even night cycling, or was this in 2005?)... then Japan in June 2006 and lastly Langkawi & Penang trip in Dec 2006...
My 9th resolution is to save enough money to go to Taiwan with my sister and friends.. She would prefer to go during the Summer holidays because her main aim is to go shopping.. I prefer Dec holidays because I want to experience the colder weather...

16. Resolve to be more forgiving.
10th resolution will be to have less anger and not be angry at anything and everything... Forgive more :)

17. Last but not least, stop procrastinating! If you don't get moving, you will never get anywhere.
Very very important 11th resolution, stop procrastinating! and don't think too much! :)

the no of the resolutions are not in order because I picked out those which are relevant only.. and these are from "Seventeen" magazine... I'm way out of my teens but I still like this magazine :)

Happy New Year everybody!! :)

It's 2007!!

I had been trying to post as many Happy 2007 testimonials in Friendster as possible but I only got to friends with name starting with "B"..haha.. Partly due to the slower internet connection... and partly because I planned to do too many things in a short time.. haha...
I wanted to make New Year Resolutions.. but it's already 2nd of January...
I needed to buy Chinese New Year clothes but I came back with no clothes after a whole afternoon of shopping with my big sis.. My sis, on the other hand, came back with 2 cardigans, 2 tops, and a skirt! plus the essentials and also stockings... o_O
I want to change the skin of my blog cause I'm bored of it having no header.. I want a header! But I'm lazy to do it.. and my
sister who apparently promised me to do it for me ran back to UTM last week...

What have I been doing these past few days?

Went for Wedding Dinner on New YEar's Eve... I don't know the bride nor the groom.. I actually do not know anyone at all! I just went cause nobody else is free to accompany my dad... The food was not as good as I thought it would be.. a lot of chicken and pork... I only ate a lot of the fish, prawns and scallops.. :)
The night was spent with TVBS Asia again...
Woke up early on New Year's Day to have Dim Sum breakfast with my parents.. watched "Curse of the Golden Flowers" with my dad... I did not particualrly like it.. Many of the scenes were really magnificent.. with so many people... and so much gold.. I think WX would like it A LOT.. :) The acting was O.K.. but I didnt like the storyline. I think it's just a simple story with great props to make it a proper movie...
and why so much killing? When the soldiers were killing each other, they shouted "Do not hurt Prince Jai" even though the prince was the one heading the rebellion!! which made me think Why so much killing? Why not kill the Prince too? Why so many soldiers died just because the mother decided to have a relationship with the step-son and hated the king who was poisoning her everyday? I think I agree with the King's action...
and Why still stage the rebellion when you knew you could not win? >_<

My favourite scene was when sooo many people came out after the fight to clean up the place, replace all the crysanthemums... It was as though nothing had happened and the celebration continued! very grand :)

Well, my dad thought the movie was O.K.. and I thought he wouldn't like it cause they were not much fighting scenes...

My big sister's family came and we went for lunch together.... my nephew is bigger now and very cute!! He loves to have people play with him.. If he's left alone, he would kick and make noises...
My niece came later....

The pictures below were taken a week ago before Christmas... she was wearing this cute dress that she called her "Tennis Dress"... my sister told me she has another which is called her "Badminton Dress"..haha.. she came on Christmas Eve with a very pretty dress and wore a Santa Claus hat to dinner :)
Before I could snap a pic of her in that outfit, she accidentally dumped the ball of the hat into the soup my mom was drinking! the ball soaked up so much soup that it became very heavy.. she refused to wear it after that -___-

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
my niece isn't really playing the piano cause she's only 2 years old.. but she loves to sit there and just press the keys.. and she will hum according to the sound she hears!
Her favourite singer is the local singer Michael Wong... she can sing many of his songs especially Tong Hua .. whenever his song is played on the radio, she would stop all her activities and sing along! haha...

Going back to Singapore on Friday night....
