MACAU~

13th July 2007

After a crazy night at Lan Kwai Fong, we woke up very early the next day for a day trip to Macau! 6 girls and 2 guys set off from CUHK at 8am....

We took the Turbojet from Sheung Wan~ ticket cost HKD138 each! so expensive.. If not, I would have gone to Macau again.. mainly to eat...
Jiaxin and I in the ferry... looking super tired... slept through the whole one hour ferry journey...

First stop: Macau Fisherman's Wharf~

As you can see, there are a lot of those old European statues and building... complete with a mini Coliseum~ but inside this "old" buildings are shops... selling souvenirs and food...
There are many colourful buildings in this place... very nice for phototaking~
nice car! :)

We walked around a bit and decided to have lunch here since ALL of us were starving! The food here are rather expensive... so, we decided on the not so expensive Italian food~the restaurant was very nice.. with an open-kitchen concept... and there's even a CCTV showing the kitchen from above, so we can have a complete view of how our food is cooked! nice :)
the long long pizza! Shared by 3 person.. didn't try this cause it has beef on it~
This was shared between me and Thunder! yummy seafood pizza~ It was rather huge and I couldn't finish it... yummy yummy salmon, clam and squid on it :)
Eden's Salmon... she said it was yummy and reminded her of her home in Canada~
Tiramisu! shared between me and Thunder..HeHe :) yummy!

After satisfying our stomach, we proceeded to the next stop: The Famous St. Paul's Ruin!

I was a little disappointed when I reached the place.. I was expecting a bigger ruin but it was rather small.. and there's only that entrance and nothing else... HaHa.. But it looked nice in photos.. we spent quite a fair amount of time taking photos there....

3rd stop: Museum of Sacred Art which was right beneath the St. Paul's Ruin... it's a small place with huge paintings of Jesus and some relics... and there's a tomb..
More photos taken from every corner of the St. Paul's Ruin.. HaHa :)
From above... through the window~

We proceeded down the road in front of the ruin.... statues and buildings along the way...

Medicines NO Fake! :)
Sze Huey and I in the middle of one of the streets... being very touristy with our souvenir-must get Almond biscuit and MAP of Macau! :)

4th Stop: St. Dominic's Church

We didn't know we reached this place when we saw the outside of the building.. cause there's no signboard anywhere ... the outside of the building looked like any other building in the Senado Square.. but once we stepped in! o_O

a Beautiful church~ with very nice architecture....

5th Stop: Senado Square
Rakjhiv (dont know how to spell his name -__-) from Mexico, ME, Sze Huey and Jiaxin :)

7th stop: Leal Senado Building

Almost everything in Macau is either in Chinese or Portuguese! I can't read chinese well and I totally can't read Portuguese... So, I was having a hard time to tell which is which tourist destination... :(

I read from website that this building has the best Portuguese architecture in Macau! So, we went in to have a look... very nice indeed :)

a very nice garden in the building itself! :)

Magnificent lamps on the ceiling~
There was a very nice library in the building! BUT we weren't allowed to take photos in it... The library contained a lot of old books from the time of the Portuguese~ mostly of religions...
8th Stop: Ah Ma Temple
This place is at the other side of the island, so we took a taxi there... This is one of the world heritage sites in Macau.. Macau is filled with World Heritage Sites~

There were a lot of steps inside the temple.. at each stop, there is a small temple building worshipping different gods ( i think.. haha)

From Ah Ma Temple, we walked to Macau Tower~ It looked rather near in this picture.. and so we assumed... but it's quite a walk... under the scorching sun! o_O
9th Stop: Macau Tower Along the way, we took lots of pictures with the Macau Tower as backdrop... But, only 3 person went up the tower... the rest of us rested at the lobby... totally worn out...
10th Stop: Dinner!
At a cha chan teng... can't remember the name... But it's somewhere near the huge Guan Yin Statue... and it has a lot of Coca Cola bottles displayed... the food was good!!

4 ppl shared 3 dishes... with fish, chicken and vege... so yummy my stomach is rumbling while typing...
After dinner, 4 of us rushed back to the Senado Square area to get souvenirs while the other 4 proceeded to Sands Casino... Shops in Macau closed at around 8pm... so buy your egg tarts early! Or, end up like us... didn't even taste ONE portuguese egg tart! So SAD! :(
(luckily my nice friend bought for us.. just ate for lunch! ^_^)
11th Stop: Grand Lisboa Casino~
The place is sooooo posh and grand! Wx will love this place! It's practically glittering in GOLD!!

We didn't bet on anything, we just went in, used the toilet and took photos around the lobby... and then we watched pole dance in the casino and left :)
Last stop of the day: Sands Casino
The place was less posh but the dealers were more good looking and they had better uniforms.. HaHa.. We watched another dance performance in this casino, walked around, used their toilet and then left... Oh, and we consulted one of the workers how to use the jackpot machine..HaHa! :)
We finally left Macau by the 12.15am ferry.. I was totally worn out by then.. We took a ferry back from Sheung Wan and reached CUHK around 2am..
